The Chaser
This is a Korean movie with the title “Chugyeogja” and it’s based on the most notorious serial killer in Korea named Yoo Young-Cheol. This movie kept me at the edge of my seat, wishing that the police would capture him ASAP. A little warning, though, this movie will probably make you feel sad at the end and it’s filled with bloody, gory, cruel scenes. What’s my rating for this movie? 7.8 stars out of 10.

The Story:
Jung-ho (Kim Yoon-suk) is a former corrupt police detective who now becomes a pimp. The number of his prostitutes who disappear keep on adding up. At last he realizes that they all disappear after meeting the same client. He thinks that the client is selling them away, so he is determined to find that guy. So he sends a prostitute named Mi-jin (Seo Young-hee) to meet the client so that she can tell him the client’s address and he would take matters into his own hand. The client’s name is Young-min and he’s actually a serial killer.
When Mi-jin tries to send an SMS to Jung-ho from the bathroom, she can’t do so. Next thing you know, Mi-jin is tied up face-down on the bathroom floor and her mouth is gagged. The innocent-looking Young-Min now turns into a cold-blooded monster. While trying to kill Mi-jin, a couple come by his house, so he lets them in and kills them. Since his “work” is interrupted, he drives out of his place and his car bumps into Jung-ho’s. Jung-ho comes out of his car and notices some blood on Young-Min’s shirt. Intuition tells him to call the client’s number and his guess is right. When he tries to call the client’s number, Young-Min’s mobile rings. Young-Min runs out of the car and the chase begins.
He finally catches Young-Min and brings him to the police station. At first, during interrogatino the beaten-up Young-Min nonchalantly pretends to forget many things. Then he says that he kills Jung-ho’s prostitutes. However, since the police can’t get any formal statement that he’s a killer and they can’t find any evidence, they have to let him go. Meanwhile, Jung-ho tries to find the place where Young-Min took all his girls.
Will Jung-ho be able to find Mi-jin? Will Mi-jin stay alive? Wil Young-Min get his punishment? Prepare to watch a LONG stretch of twists and turns for 123 minutes.
