Darkness Falls
This 2003 movie reminds me of other movies due to its familiar theme (Tooth Fairy and the revenge of someone who was treated unjustly), but still it’s worth watching. It keeps me at the edge of my seat. My only complaint is that it’s rather short as it’s only 86 minutes he he he…but I’ll give this a 7 stars out of 10.
Remember though that it’s rated PG-13 for terror and horror images, and brief language.

The Story:
Back in the 1800s in the town of Darkness Falls (yes, it’s a name of a place) there was an old woman named Matilda Dickson who was nicknamed “The Tooth Fairy”. Why? Because kids come to her whenever they lose a tooth and she’d give her a gold coin. However, a tragedy struck when her house was on fire and her face was badly burnt. Her injury left her unable to withstand bright lights, so she started wearing a white porcelain mask. Then one day two kids didn’t come home and Matilda was blamed for this. She was hanged and her mask was taken off, so she was tortured under bright light. As you can expect, she swore to get her revenge. She said that whoever looked at her face would die.
Fast forward to 150 years later in Darkness Falls. Everybody in the town knows about this legend and it’s said that Matilda will come to every single kid who has lost their last baby tooth. One night Kyle Walsh (Joshua Anderson) loses his last tooth and he is afraid to go to sleep that night. His best friend Caitlin Greene (Emily Browning) comes to visit his room to ask him out, but he doesn’t want to go. You can see already that there are sparks between them.
That night Matilda does come and unfortunately Kyle takes a peep and sees her. He hides in the bathroom and turns on the light there and his mother gets killed instead. The police blames Kyle for her death, so he is taken to a mental hospital.
12 years later, Caitlin’s (Emma Caulfield) little brother Michael (Lee Cormie) has trouble sleeping since he’s also seen Matilda. He’s just lost his last tooth and now he’s scared to death. Caitlin takes her to the hospital and they run many tests on him, but to no avail. Desperate, Caitlin tracks down Kyle and ask his help.
Kyle comes down to Darkness Falls again and he is bullied by many other inhabitants who believe that he has killed his own mother in cold blood. It doesn’t help that Matilda keeps on killing all those people who’ve seen her (even adults) who are near Kyle. So the police puts Kyle in jail.
How can Kyle help Michael? Will they be able to get rid of Matilda? Who will be killed?
Note:
I LOVE the ending since it’s not something I’ve seen in other horror movies.
By the way, here’s the trailer:
