Dear fellow bloggers who have asked to put ads in my EC icon, due to today.com new policy concerning the use of EC, I decided to close down EC today. I hope you understand this. I just thought it’d be better if I close it down ASAP before I forget about this due to my busy life these days.
Saw this movie with hubby the other day on TV. It’s a pretty crazy/fun/wacky zombie movie. If you want to see zombies being used as house helpers, then this is the one for you. It’s not scary at all, though there are gory moments, too. Thus it’s rated R for zombie-related violence. I’ll give this movie a 6.8 stars out of 10.
The Story:
In the neighbourhood where most people have zombies as their house helpers (one person even has one as his girlfriend!), Helen Robinson (Carrie Anne-Moss) begs her husband to keep one as a house helper, as well. Since Bill Robinson (Dylan Baker) is a very busy father, his son Timmy Robinson (K’Sun Ray) is left to his own devices. He is considered an outcast among his peer group, so when the new zombie comes to their house, he make friends with him. He even names the zombie Fido (Billy Connolly). In fact, not only Timmy is the one who makes friends with Fido, but Helen also starts to care about him.
How do they control the zombies so that they don’t eat humans? By putting some kind of collar on their necks. The owners of the zombies are also given a remote control to help control them in case they get out of hand. Sometimes the collar doesn’t work too well and the zombie starts to get hungry for flesh. This happens when Timmy and Fido are playing outside in a park. Since Fido manages to kill one old lady, the old lady turns into a zombie and this creates chaos since there are more and more zombies in the neighbourhood.
What happens next? The zombie exterminators take Fido away ‘coz they find out that Fido is the one who creates all the problems. Timmy is also to be blame, but because the leader of the zombie exterminators is his neighbour, then he lets the family get away without any punishment. Timmy is sad now ‘coz he’s lost his friend Fido. However, he finds out that Fido isn’t exterminated. Instead, he’s taken to work in one factory, so off Timmy goes to find Fido.
What happens next? Will Fido be able to be together with Timmy again?
This Australian horror movie follows one of the usual horror movie recipes: a couple get lost when they’re on holiday and they meet a group of crazy people. The only question is: will they survive or not???
Well, for a satisfying ending and bloody, gory moments, I’ll give this movie a 6.8 stars out of 10. Mind you, though, that it’s rated R for strong bloody horror violence, terror, gore, language, some sexuality and nudity.
The Story:
Rob (Robert Taylor) and his French wife Pia (Nadia Farès) go on a boating trip together, but they get lost when they try to get back to the pier. They end up in a small island inhabited by three guys named Jimmy (David Lyons), Brett (Mathew Wilkinson), their Dad Poppy (John Brumpton), and their fierce dog.
They find a small, messy house and there’s nobody inside, so they get in to find the phone, but to no avail. Then Jimmy, Brett, and Poppy get back home and they threaten to kill Pia and Rob if they don’t get out of their place. As usual, then Pia and Rob must try to get out of their clutches alive, since those three guys intend on making their life miserable, especially after Poppy finds out that Rob has seen their marijuana plants. So Rob and Pia are put in one big barn and there they try to use any tools they can find to fight for their lives. It’s also clear from the start that Pia is going to get raped, so how is she going to survive the attack when it comes?
Here’s the trailer:
Spoiler:
Since Rob’s leg is hurt, Pia has to prepare the necessary traps in the barn since she knows that Jimmy, Brett, and Poppy are going to kill them in the end. She has also prepared a bottle and sharpens one part of it to prepare herself for the “rape” that’s going to happen (I don’t need to tell you where she puts the bottle, right?). Anyway, the first person to come inside the barn is Brett. Rob and Pia pretend to be asleep and then they attack him. Brett ends up dead.
‘Coz Brett doesn’t come back to the house, Poppy tells Jimmy to check up on him and to bring Pia to him. So Pia follows him into the house and when Poppy tries to rape her, his private parts get cut off by the sharp edges of the bottle that Pia has prepared. He runs out to the bathroom and Jimmy comes up to find out what’s going on. Pia manages to run away from the house to the barn. Pia and Rob attack Jimmy, close the barn door, and try to run away with their truck. However, the key is missing, so Pia has to go back inside the house to get it.
Meanwhile, Poppy is able to get rid of the bottle from his private parts and he comes out to get Pia. Pia grabs the car key and try to turn on the ignition while Poppy is coming closer and closer. Pia and Rob are saved from Poppy’s clutch since their dog attacks Poppy. The dog thinks that Poppy is “edible” because it loves the smell of blood.
Jimmy gets out of the barn by force, but before he can do anything much, Pia manages to kill him. So both Pia and Rob are safe in the end.
Today’s song choice is an old one that I used to hear when I was very young in Indonesia. It’s a Japanese song and I’ll always remember this song, even though I don’t understand the lyrics ha ha ha…
For some reason, a song is like a smell from the past. Every time I listen to this song, it took me back to the past with that musty smell…a very familiar smell that made me feel comfortable. I feel like being a little girl again, trying to sing the lyrics even though I didn’t understand the meaning. That’s one of the most beautiful things about music or songs, don’t you think so? You don’t have to understand the lyrics to enjoy the music (even though it does help to understand the lyrics, but still…).
So, hopefully you’ll enjoy this song as much as I do…now let me just close my eyes while listening to this song and be transported back to 20 years ago…mmmm…Here’s Mayumi Itsuwa with “Kokoro No Tomo”.

Saw this movie on TV the other day. Never saw this movie before in my life, so I didn’t know what to expect. This sci-fi/mystery movie is based on a novella. Well, this sci-fi has an intriguing plot that even though I was SO sleepy already when I watched it, it kept me awake until the end. But since I’ve seen many other more modern sci-fi movies, this one is not too special. Maybe if I had seen it in 1992, it would have felt more special he he…Anyway, I’ll give this movie a 6.7 stars out of 10.
P.S. It was released in video as “Grand Tour: Disaster in Time”.
The Story:
Ben Wilson (Jeff Daniels) lives with her daughter Hilary Wilson (Ariana Richards). He’s been having trouble with his life since the death of his wife. He felt guilty about his wife’s death, so he turned to drinking for a while, though now he’s ready to start a new life with Hilary. Together they are going to open an inn in an old house. While preparing the house, a strange woman barges into the house. Her name is Madame Iovine (Marilyn Lightstone). She comes with a group of people in a bus. She insists on staying in the inn even though it’s not really ready yet to accept guests.
She says she’s ready to pay no matter how much Ben asks for. So Ben accepts the offer. There are 5 empty rooms in the house other than the rooms for Ben and Hilary themselves, so the guests sleep in the 5 empty rooms. They act weirdly ever since the beginning and this makes Ben wary of them.
After some time, Ben realizes that all the guests come from the future, but he doesn’t know why they are in the past yet. However, one of them warns Ben to get out of the city before tomorrow. Trouble comes when Ben picks up Hilary at school and then the school teacher says that Hilary’s grandpa, Judge Caldwell (George Murdock), has picked her up and taken her home.
Judge Caldwell never liked Ben ever since his daughter’s death. He blamed Ben for being a coward who left his daughter behind after that car accident. Being a judge, he has asked another judge’s help to give Ben a court order, stating that he is an unfit father, so Hilary will be under his care from now on.
Before he tries to get Hilary out of the judge’s house, a meteorite hits the city. It kills many people, leaving devastation everywhere. Many houses are in ruins and everybody who’s still alive is confused. The priest of the city ushers everybody to go to the school to be safe. Ben meets Hilary among the ruins of the city and he asks Hilary to follow the priest, since out of the corner of his eyes, he realizes that his inn guests have come to the city and they look very enthusiastic. It seems like a great spectacle for them.
Then Ben realizes that they have come to witness important events in the past, such as this meteorite crashing to earth. However, they still linger in Ben’s inn, so Ben realizes that there must be some other event that they want to witness. What is the event? Ben follows them and finds out that they are waiting in an old building overlooking the school. So there must be something bad that’s going to happen inside the school. Now Ben is in a panic since Hilary is inside the same school. Will he manage to save Hilary? What will happen to the school?
Spoiler:
Ben doesn’t come to school in time to save Hilary and the others. The guests prepare to leave to go to another event or spectacle in another time. One of them gives Ben a passport and Ben uses it to go back to yesterday ‘coz he wants to save Hilary. He goes back to the past, meets himself in the past (so there are two Bens by now) and then both of them manage to save many people from the meteorite, including Hilary. In the end, they finish redecorating the inn and then he goes back in time to save his wife. The last scene shows Hilary in the inn, hearing her mother playing the piano, so she runs out to meet her.
Hubby bought Wii Fit package along with the Wii Fit board and Wii Fit and Wii Sports CDs and we’ve been using them a lot for the past two days. That’s why we haven’t been able to watch any movies. We still have plenty of movies to watch, but no time. We’re becoming addicted to Wii. Well, it’s probably healthier than watching movies and just sitting down and eating popcorn or chips, but then again it becomes troublesome for me to write reviews in this blog he he he…
Other than that, I’ve been back to studying Finnish at school, so I’ve been busier than ever. Sorry if I can’t drop my EC cards every day, but whenever I have some time, I’ll definitely visit yours back!
Anyway, there’s one thing I find useful in Wii. It’s the boxing game! I truly felt that I could unleash my emotions while boxing with the computer or boxing with hubby. Other than the fact that I can burn some calories that way, I also feel better because I can unload my feelings in a game. I do not like violence in any way, mind you. I don’t want anybody to be violated in any case, but it’s just a game and it’s sports, right?
Hubby also bought this Jeli Sleeve for Wii Fit Board as we don’t want it to be dirty. It feels pretty smooth to the skin. Mind you, though, when I tried doing some Yoga poses with my socks on, I found it hard to keep my body straight since my socks were rather slippery. So I think it’s better to do some poses without any socks on.
Another thing that I like about Wii Fit is that I can also calculate my BMI and record how long I’ve been exercising and stuff. Let’s see how toned my body will be after using Wii for some time. However, I think we also should spend a little time to watch movies so that I can write more reviews here he he he…
